The Sun City Fire and Medical Department is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Fire Chief. An Assistant Fire Chief has direct responsibility for controlling, coordinating and supervising one or more divisions and/or sections of the Department, as assigned (i.e. emergency services, administration, finance, community risk management, support services, etc.). The Assistant Chief will direct, oversee and participate in the development of the respective divisions/sections; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; implement Department standards and policies, interact with community and governmental agencies, foster and initiate high standards of performance, training and morale of subordinates and develop and administer budgets. This position assignment includes oversight of the command and control functions at emergency incidents. This position classification is as an exempt employee that typically works a standard 40-hour administrative work week and requires a vast amount of managerial knowledge and the ability to make independent decisions. The Assistant Chief reports directly to the Fire Chief.
Wage and Benefits Package

Sun City Fire & Medical Department is currently recruiting for full-time firefighter positions. To be considered for the first review of applicants, testing must be completed by May 15, 2020*. Minimum requirements for this position are: 18 years of age or older; valid Arizona driver’s license; current Arizona State emergency medical technician (EMT) or certified emergency paramedic (CEP) certification; high school diploma or GED equivalent; documentation that provides proof of identity and employability as required by IRCA law.
This position requires both FireTEAM written exam (WAQ component is required) and a valid CPAT (within the last six months) certification. Oral interviews will begin May 2020.
